Kingpin holes wallowed out

Post by Daddiojoe »

Has anybody rebushed the holes in the axle? Mine are oval shaped. What kind of options do I have, and how much will it probably cost?

Nice to be back on Sweptline,

Joe

Why not just replace the axle with another?

The other one I bought is better, but still not 100%. Do you have an axle w/ kingpin holes in excellent shape for sale?

Nope but I recently did install new bushings. Had a machine shop do the honing. New king pins on my truck has made a world of difference. Why not check with a machine shop for your problem? Folks there will know if the axle can be saved. Good luck.

I used a NAPA machine shop back in March, they charged $130 to install new kingpins. Jim

$50 but all I took to the machine shop where the knuckles. My axle was good, only the bushings in the knuckles where worn out. Are you sure the holes in the axle are bad? The king pin doesn't rotate in the axle and it seems odd to me the axle holes have become wallowed out. You may get by with another pair of knuckles.

Good point, John. I'll check that out, too.
