Just wondering what load the "confort" springs can handel.
Want to lover the total weight of my dodge ( 5 ton to 3.5 ton)

:withstupid Forgot that you use lbs or something :lol:

2600 Kg = 5727 lbs
900 Kg = 1986 lbs

// 1 lbs = 0.454 Kg
// 1 Kg ~= 2.203 lbs

Your w-300 will handle a 1 ton load easy without the helper springs.

My D5N 300 twincab pulls in at 2800kg
Ive had about 2500kg on the back with very little movement.
But an interesting point is by changing the tyre size you also change the load capacity and allows it to be driven on a car licence

Hmm ....
The tyres i want has to big load capacity, (Trelleborg 280 x 80 x 16 "arrow patterned" Swedish "Valp" military tyres).

Our "athorised car inspection organisation" hardly accepts only the tyres to be changed but the springs is OK.

It´s dually wheels on the back now, im changing it to singles (rebuilding some other rims, switching centers so i get correct offset )

Interesting! They would re-certify the GVW of your truck based on removing springs - that's cool.
If I understand correctly you are just talking about removing the secondary "overload" spring pack? If so, I'd say that the truck would still handle any load you'd ever put into it just on the main springs. One thing you might check is to see if rather than removing the second spring set, just remove the pads that the overload springs contact when heavily loaded. This would have the same effect, but would not require removing the U-bolts and replacing them with shorter ones. Most I've seen have a big 90° bracket riveted to the frame to contact the secondary spring pack. You could just cut the rivets and you'd be done.

Yes they re-certify it if i can prove that the total weight of the truck won´t
be greater than 7700 Lbs (3500 Kg), all is depending on the load capacity.

The rules are:

No more than 7700 Lbs total weight (load included)
I must have som load capacity so it goes as a truck.

so if the unloaded weight are about 5727 lbs
then i have about 2000 lbs i can load on it, and thats ok.

This is a photo of the tag thatindicates the GVM of my vehicle with different tyre sizes.

http://groups.msn.com/GILESIESINSTALLS/ ... PhotoID=47

these are shown in kg`s
after reading your last post it appears that your driving licence allows you to drive a lower rating vehicle than we can.

My car licence allows me to operate a vehicle up to 4500kg + a 750kg trailer.

basicly if I register the truck with 700 tyres it becomes a 4400kg vehicle (even if I then replace the tyres with 750`s after registration)
