dry fit of AAJ disc conversion

Post by CSS-Registry »

i have finally installed my disc kit from AAJ.

it looks like i have a little tweaking to do to get it all to fit properly but it looks really nice - i am really satisfied with the overall fit and finish of the kit.

it uses aspen/volare late 70's early 80's b-body rotors (it's a long list), GM calipers and some proprietary adaptors.

i still need to thread the bottom bolt hols to reattach the steering arms and drill the steering arms for 5/8th bolts but i want to paint everything up before i do that.

Couple quick questions,

Does it use the Original Spinals?

Does that last picture of the Rotor appear as close as it seems?

those are the original spindles.

yes - the rotor is very close to the spindle ear holes. to remedy that i think i'll need to true the rotors and i will probably have to surface the offending ear holes to fit it all up properly.

i have an email out to AAJ for their opinion on this. they have been very helpful in all my questions to date and are usually very responsive to emails by either a call or email.

i'll keep y'all posted on what i find out as so many off us are salivating for a good, easy-to-instal disc kit.

i bought the primo kit minus the rotors to save on shipping. was a nice way to go with minimal parts hunting :)

Roger from AAJ called today. he had a couple of suggestions on how to remedy my minor problems. i will try a different type of castle nut on it and he said he'd produce another bearing adaptor for me if the the castle nut gave me more room for the cotter pin.

he has a setup in his shop that has no problems what so ever so he was surprised to see the clearance issue that i have with my setup. he said he'd do everything he could to help remedy the situation - even after the fact that i've had this kit on my shelf for almost a year now!. like i said earlier - good people that take care of their customers!

i'll keep y'all posted on the outcome with more pics on what i did to get it going.

here the web address scott -

What kind of price range ??? I was planning on picking up cans on the side of the road and maybe babysitting on weekends or selling my plasma to save up for an independent suspension swap .But after seeing this and reading in another post about the airbag on top of the factory springs , I'm starting to remember the old thing about K.I.S.S.= keep it simple stupid !
