Never done it, but I believe this is one accepted method, an old school trick. (although I think staying on your feet might be a good idea!)

So everybody else had already heard of this? Huh. I talk to a lot of old timers and try to gather info, but I'd NEVER heard of such a thing.

I've seen the "professionals" do it. Scared the lickety split out of me. Makes for a real nice pop sound. Quite effective however.

I had to do the exact same thing to mount the hummer 37x12.5's on my 16.5x9.75 American Racing rims. My idiot friend threw the match while I was still spraying though... singed the *#%^ out of my beard, sideburns, and arm hairs. OH... and then he told my other friend that it was my wife's fault! :clap

Did that while 4-wheeling and popped the bead way out in nowhere land. Got us out of there and back on the road. You really have to be careful because you can really do damage to yourself or someone else.

I saw it a while back on Learning Channel or something like it show about four wheel drives. Arctic explorers did it out on the tundra in the snow. One of those "no choice" situations. Looked extra cool in the cold.

I thought they label ether as starting fluid so it can be sold as tire mounter and no one will get mad.
I have done that 100 times, it really isnt a big deal, monster truck tires, those are really fun, whaaooommph.
The 20's on my 95 I mounted that way, my old 17's on my Honda accord I used to have I did that, those low profile tires are impossible to mount in a garge that doesnt ahve a good modern tire machine, I have an air chuck, valve core remover, tire spoons and ETHER. Oh, tire plugs too, you have to fix nail holes somehow.
