Re: Rebuilding kingpins???
hey Brad,
there are two type available - bronze or nylon.
i bought a set of bronze bushings and pin kit from NAPA. it's been a while so i can't recall the price.
they are not hard to put in but you do need a special tool to fit the pin to the fresh bushings. the tool shaves a small amount of the bronze to fit the pin. i have the tool if you wanted to send me the spindles and kit and i can do them for you. or you could have a machine shop do them...
the nylon bushing don't last as long but are easier to install with no special tools.

Re: Rebuilding kingpins???
Any place that sells machine shop tools.
McMaster-Carr, MSC, Travers tools, Granger, etc. all sell online.
Buy your pins and mic them to size, then buy the approperate reamer.
If you want me to I can mic my new pins.
I just mic the new pins they are .875"
I bought my king pins at Advance auto, TRW brand $39.99, brass bushings but this was in 8-8-2003, still have not installed them yet.

Kool, I'll keep this for future reference, I had a friend that had a set of adjustable rheems, they would vary about .0075 I think.

Hi Brad,
I had a machine shop hone out the bushings. It's a much more precise than reaming. I was very impressed with the results.

Absolutely take them to a machine shop and have them honed. If you use an adjustable reem you will just have another set of loose kingpins in about 100 miles.D300 wrote:Hi Brad,
