Here's a new one. I noticed that the brake pedal for my has a curved smooth head up at the top. The pedal out of a 1964 D-100 I was looking at had a slot at the top for a brake pedal return spring to attach to. I don't remember there being a spring attached to my brake pedal when I took the cab apart, but it has been several years since I started this project.
Anyone out there who has a 68 D-100: do you have a spring attached to your brake pedal? How is it attached? Thanks; just want to get some direction.

Here's what I've found.....mightydodge wrote:How does the spring attach to the top of my pedal since it has kind of a smooth hump instead of a notch like on the 1964 D-100?
I looked at my '68 W200 and it has the spring. My '61
D200, '65 D100 & '67 W200 also have this spring. The
spring is shown in my parts book as equipment for
both D & W 100 & 200 models. The diagram I reviewed
was dated '67 and the acutal part was listed on a
page dated '69 as superceding the '68 part listings.
My '68 D100's both have the same top profile as you
have described..... perhaps they disappeared on the
D100's starting in '68? There are quite
a few folks that own '68 D100's on this board so
maybe they can help us out. Both of my '68
D100's had the hole for the spring in the pedal
support structure ..... weird.

Yeah, my brake light stays on too, which is why I started sniffing around. I have the same hole in the structure for the spring to attach to, but cannot figure out how the spring would attach to the pedal. It just didn't seem to make sense that spring would just slide over the top of the pedal with nothing to hold it on there; since there's no notch. Hopefully one of the other guys with a '68 will give us some insight.

My 66 has a spring and it sat for about 10 years before I got it. Pedal arm would not return on it's own enough to hit the brake light switch. I had to remove the bolt the brake and clutch pedals pivot on and shine the bolt up. After sanding the rust off I used some light oil. That fixed it.
