Sway bar repair.

I have given up trying to find replacement bushings so I went on Energy Suspension website and found for the ends their 9.8141G will fit just fine if I cut it in the middle to make a one piece into a two piece bushing, you need to keep the steel insert from the old bushings, and my sawy bar is 13/16 in dia so I bought 9.5157 which are greasable and should replace the two center hangers just fine.

tom did ya use Energy Suspension for connections rods to the straight axle also?? I've seen them hanging in the Pep Boys store's and the rods look to be almost the same as our trucks????

Robin, no I'm reusing the old dog bone shaped pieces, these inserts are actually for a shock but the dimensions seemd right, I'll post some before and after pic's when I get back next week, headed to the mountains to cool off..

Okay these pictures will go from the stock linkthen bushing being removed, link with no bushings, Energy Susenpsion stock busings, the modified bushings (sawn in half), and the link with modified bushings installed. Last picture is Energy suspensions universal sway bar bushing.

Just a note when installing the sway bar bushing the rear bolts on both sides also hold the motormount in place so I wouldn't remove these all the way.

Underdog, plus the whole thing cost right at $26.00 from Summit plus there handling charge.

did you check with the Mopar Performance people to see if they are available?????

Ben you need two boxes of 9.8141G those are the ones I cut in half and if you sway bar is 13/16 in diameter. You must also reuse the small steel bushing the bolts go threw.

Instead of cutting the piece in half...Is there any posibility of pressing it throught the dogbone without damaging the new bushing, mabye usings a vise or hydralic press and a little grease? Mabye put a slight bevel on the outer edge of the lip of the bushing to aid in getting it inside?

Bean maybe but I didn't have a press handy but since these are really shock bushing its more then likely possible.

i bought the parts and now i see why you cut the bushings in half for the dog bone. once the paint dries i should have mine together in a couple of days.

I tried NAPA, Autozone, Kragen and all the on-line sites that were recommended and had zero luck, It could be these old parts when used up just aren't available anymore? Same problem I had with the heater control valve someone got lucky and JC Whitney had them but when I checked no deal.

I say that because through all the years I've seen this, I tried numerous places about buying parts from and little to no luck, However I tried San Antonio Brake and Clutch and they guy tells me do you have the time? I say yes? 4 hours later her has every piece including drums both front and rear, every little piece, then I did JC Whitney about the heater valve and they went through special orders and wala I have a brand new valve, but ya know since the brake deal in 2001 I have the invoices and have given out the part number and now they match something else.
I'm looking at opening up a parts store and I'm going to specialize in these trucks and old vehicles, if everything goes right that should happen in the next 2 years
