W200 Power steering and power disc brakes

Post by AmericanClassic »

I'm also gathering info on a '67 W200 4-door Power steering/ power disc conversion. Anyone out there specializing in this field or even offering parts for sale?
Thanks everyone!

:study :thinking
IF you use the search function (at the top of the page) you will probably get 10-20 pages of information.

There are several options for steering, none a simple bolt on. There is decent info scattered around the site.

There isn't much info on front discs for a W series though. The only option I know of is to swap the entire front axle for an early 80's unit that already has discs. This is actually pretty straight forward, with one exception - Most of the axles you will encounter will be 5 lug, instead of 8 lug. They will also have the open style Dana 44, instead of the big closed knuckle Dana 44. I have a 70 half ton with early 80's axles, no problems.

I am not up on the 80's trucks, did the 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks still use 8 lugs and have discs?? Or were discs only on half tons? Either way, most Swepts used the same axle for 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton, so an 80's half ton axle would be fine. Going to the 5 on 5.5" lug pattern opens up a whole new world of wheel options also. But I can't help much more to tell you which trucks had which configuration. Wish I knew, I have a 70 W200 crew that I would like to have discs on.
