Yea,there is a lot of "Driver input" in these old trucks, with manual steering, and backing a trailer into a tight spot....
here are a couple of links to Old Sarge's build threads for the ford box. He has sold the truck, but there is some great stuff here!

Re: Power steering,How I did it.
Here is a link that shows how to drill and tap a ford box for power assist, for the guys running huge tires.

Re: Power steering,How I did it.
Okay I have a 71 3/4 ton camper special. Have a ford steering box. When I try to install the box with the pitman arm shaft in the factory location through the frame, the splined shaft where the rag joint attaches is to long to attach to the steering column. Am I missing something? Looking at the pictures in the power section it seems to work. Pls help
Re: Power steering,How I did it.
I really don't wan't to resurrect this thread,as there are easier ways to go about this now (CPP box).
If you have an auto tranny with column shift,I am very sorry, I cant help you.
If you haven't built brackets... It's a good time to stop.
If all you need to finish this is sort out the column (and you don't have a column shift truck) send me a "personal message" and I will tell you what you need to know to get er done.
