I need to have the steering box in my 1970 D200 rebuilt.
How do I get it out? Do I have to go through that access panel by the steering column or can it all be done from below?
How about putting it back in?
Thanks for the advise.

Depends on whether or not you have power steering but if you have manual, this is how it's done. Remove the bolt holding the pitman arm to the steering box. You can access it from underneath on the outside of the frame. Then loosen the bolt that holds the steering column to the steering gear box. Then remaove the three bolts holding the steering gear box to the frame. Too easy.

I just did a check and NAPA shows this part# NOS7481
as the seal. I think I'll just reseal mine and let it go at that.

While you got it apart would be the easy time to do the rag joint. I found them at Pep Boys for $7.00
