Changing Brake Single Master cylinder For a Duel
My 64 has the orig. "fruit jar" brake master cylinder, Where it only has one resivor to hold fluid. I have had these go out before, like pulling in to get a bite to eat and pedal go to the floor no fun! I would like to keep the manual brakes but upgrade to a duel (resivor for front and back) what year truck would I get one off of? What would it take?THANKS
Go buy a new dual reservoir master cylinder for a
'67 D100. You can post a Parts Wanted ad for a line
junction block and the master cylinder push rod off
of a '67 [or '68] D100. These parts, along with new
brake lines/fittings, will get you where you want to
be. If you run your own lines, be sure to double
flare the ends This is also a good time
to re-do anything else in the system.... like bad
or worn wheel cylinders, shoes, springs, etc..

john, when i did this on my 65 d200 i didnt have to even readjust the rod, much less swap it.
army, just go to the parts house and order everything for a 67 with the same options as your truck. pick up the new splitter and be ready to rerun a few lines. its not hard, if you run into any snags, just ask. i did this a few weeks ago, so its all fresh in my head.

Thanks for the info it will help loads! So far I have replace the front wheel cylinders with new ones,rebuilt the rear, new rear shoes, rebuilt the master cylinder ( clutch and brake)and waiting on rear axel seals. Seals looked good but hard, and the hardest to find. I know the front rubber lines need replaced they have cracks, I've not checked the metal lines I can tell when I get pressure on them. I had a 70 short step 383 a few years ago I had to replace all metal & rubber lines on from scratch. So I have done it before. Thanks For all your help!!!!
