The level of oil in your steering box? Book says every 2000 miles but I'd bet its be ages for mine, took a goodly ammount of oil to top it off. Now this along with the lube job last week is making the steering effort even better, I'm going to play with the adjustment on the cross shaft in the morning. There is some slack in the wheel I think will adjust out. One thing lock to lock I don't feel any catches or flat spots so many it isn't to late :thinking

most don't realise that the seal for the shaft is bad so when they add gear oil it will leak out. so i took some advice and added white lithium grease (the kind you use for speedo cable's)to what was left in the steering gear. this thined out the lithium grease but kept it thick enough not to leek out any bad seals
as always and sometimes not,steve

Book says SAE 90 multi purpose gear lube or if it gets cold 80 wt I had some left over 85 wt so used it,
so far no leaks but it did have to go some place :thinking If it leaks I'll do the white grease thing I have a tube of outboard lower unit grease that should work okay.

Did an on line search of Kragen, Autozone, Napa & Rock Auto but no luck. Does your friend have a spare he'd put in the mail?

you can get the rag joint in the help section at auto zone, checker auto and equivalent. you will have cut through the old rag joint to remove the part that fits on the steering shaft though

I bought my rag joint from Dodge, The one for the 71 or 72 and up was an exact fit. They didn't have the diagram for the 65 so they went to the oldest model they had in the computer.
