Do any 8 lug GM wheels fit?

Post by nfury8 »

Can't bring myself to type the C word. I finally found a set of 5x5.5's for one truck, but I am still on the hunt for some 8 lugs to replace the 16.5's. There are several steel wheels on eBay right now from C trucks. But I know some used a 9/16 lug instead of 1/2. Did they all??

I am going to get this darn tire and wheel situation fixed yet!!

The plan is to use either a 235-85-16 or a 33x9.5x15, depending on the wheels I find.

For Ch*vy wheels, the hub hole is the issue... they're
smaller than Dodge or F*rd because they had a wimpy
hub :joker

I just got a reply from one of the sellers. Sure enough, the center is too small, and the lug holes are too big.

One reason I have been looking at later model wheels is the larger size. I need at least a 7" wide wheel, but would really like an 8".

John,

So should an older Ford wheel fit OK?

I have talked to Stockton. Problem is their cheapest steel wheel is still over $100 each. I need to find a whole set of used OEM steelies for $100.

Yes.... the older F*rd wheels work. Past a certain
year though [early '90's :thinking ], you have to
watch out as the stud diameter got larger and your
lugnuts may not seat correctly and you'd wallow out
the stud holes. The older ones will work. Also, any
pre-'94 Dodge truck wheel should work but I don't
know how many different widths they came in. You
should keep a 4" backspace in mind too.

My 71 has some 80's Dodge steel wheels, but they are 7" wide with a 4.25" backspace. They rub the draglink. That truck also has a later 90's chrome wheel as a spare. It has a 4.25" back space also.

The Ford wheels I have been looking at are 7" wide, but a 3.5" backspace.
