Another tire sizing question
I recently bought Bad94flstn's 67 D100 which was for sale via Ebay. I got the truck home today and am very happy with it. I would however like to increase the tire size on the back end utilizing 15" diameter wheels. I'm wondering what the maximum height and width tire I can put in there? I like the old style small rim/big tire look, which is why I want the 15's.
Thanks, Tom
Thanks, Tom

i dont have any pics on the computer, only hard copies. and they aint that great. im assuming your rims are 7"wide?? mine were 8's with 3.75" backspace, they are still on the 66 with 31x10.5 all terrains on all 4 corners. if you want a better look up front, lemme make a suggestion. the 225/60 is a bit small for the wieght of these trucks. im running a 235/70 up front of my current half ton, combined with a 255/70 out back. the 255 fills the rear real nice, fills the fender, without sacrificing handling to a overly large side wall. these are all on 7" wheels. my truck sits dead level when all tires are the same size. with this set up, it has the "i mean bussiness" rake to the truck. just @#% high enough to notice. much larger tire wont fit on the rim.

i have never tryed the 275 on a 7" wheel. seems like it might buldge out a bit, but thats the style these trucks had. the 255 is a bit taller, but not quite as wide. but with the 4 link, you can adjust the hieght to the tire. i had 275's on my big block caprice with 8" rims, made by hoosier, they were rated as mud and snow tires but had a street tread to them with deeper grooves. they hooked up real nice once they got hot. took a lot to plant the 525HP and 585tq numbers that chitty was puttin to the ground.

tire question
GOOD BUY! GLAD TO SEE THAT TRUCK STAYED IN THE COMMUNITY! the 275/60/15 is the most popular, out of 6 trucks with not stock build plans, here at the Colorado Cruise last year 5 had them on, and the rim sizes varied from the 7-8 fit nice

That's good to know. I think I might fire up the bead blasting booth and clean up the last set of cop rims I have left. I Have lots of plans for the truck, just need to set aside some time. I have to admit that when I first saw this truck for sale, I thought about picking up a 70/71 grill assembly. But when I actually went to Montana to pick it up, I fell in love with the front end. It's one of those situations where ugly is cool.lol

tom, id check out your front end. i had 31x10.5x15's up front with all terrain tread on 8" wheels and i had no troubles with steering effort. i had problems at first, but then i swapped king pins, tie rods, and all the bearings one weekend, then got a fresh alignment. it got a lot better after that. i could one hand it in the parking lot if i had to.

Trey, I have that on my things to do list, I figure something may be worn or out of wack, would rather do the front end if it needs it and not change the tires out I kind of like to fat tire look
