I'm giving strong consideration on building a frame out of rectangular steel tubing for my truck (it's going to be a custom job anyway so why not :-) ).

I was talking to a friend of mine who suggested building what he called a "Wasp" frame....looks about something this (please excuse the poor picture)

(Front) ---\..../---

(Front) ---/'''''\---

I tried looking them up on line using the name he gave me but turned up nothing. Does anybody know if there's another name for this style of frame?

Thanks

Brandon

Wasp is usually used to describe things that are narrow in the center and wider on the ends, "wasp waisted", etc...
You think that's what he's talking about?

Could be...I really have no idea. He said it looked like an insect so that's probably why he called it that. :-)

Sounds like it. Don't know what the advantage would be for a Swepty - I'd be worried about flexing. I think that design lends itself more for very light vehicles.
