Everything is closed on weekend, but I will inquire about why I was told, gap specs.
On a different note, when I Googled, "split rims, lock rings" plenty of info and forum threads came up on discussions about lock rings flying off suddenly.
If anyone cares to read; https://talk.newagtalk.com/forums/threa ... etCookie=1

Just upgrade to 16 inch one piece tubeless rims. Lots of sources for ones that look factory. Splits are fine , But will look like crap :pale as rust starts to weep from the joints. I have switched out splits on my 66 W100 to tubeless rims :Thumbsup . And have previously done a 71 Fargo W200 and a 76 W200.
GM Rims will also work :thinking with just a little removed from center hole for hub clearance. My 66 in Avatar pic has the GM truck rims on it. Dodge caps and beauty rims fit right on.
My truck is younger than me.
66 W100. 70 D 500 , 69 Hiab Speed Loader. 96 Ram 3500 Club Cab Cummin's 5 spd. 97 Ram 1500 Club Cab 5.9 gas auto. 83 W200 LB Propane 360 auto 09 Yammy Rhino 700.

Seperate Q.
Michelin 9.00 R 16 XZL tires. The "R" means radials. Clearly the pic shows a split ring. Is this a tubless tire installed on a rim made for tube tire?

Radial tires have be mounted on split rims. Rim protector flap and Tube required. Now as to whether it may be safe or not.
That's up for discussion. :thinking :thinking :thinking

I have run radial tires on my lock ring rims for many many years. Never had a problem.

They make tubes specifically for radials. "radial" will be printed on the tube.

Gap in lock ring. As you can see one gap is much larger. So this makes no differents in safety of ring potential to come flying off?

The end gap is irrelevant. The gap between the ring and the rim is what matters. Is it tight? It looks to be.
