My 97 Ram has a trouble code for the 3-4 shift solenoid. It starts in second, but if I shift manually, it will start in low but won't shift to 3-4.
If anyone knows anything about it I would appreciate it. If it is something I can fix, good, I would like some background info before I take it to a shop. Trans does not slip, fluid is changed yearly, so I am hoping it will not be too complicated. Some of the shops around here are "well, we'll have to overhaul it" types, and take the trans apart almost guarranteeing you will pay for the rebuild.Let's not go there!
Thanks, Panelbeater

had this happen to a work truck. had to replace the electric solenoid in the tranny pan. something you can probably do in your driveway if you had the part.
