/6-3sp to V8-sp swap

Post by PrairieDog »

My 69 D100 has a 225 six and 3 speed standard. I am looking at a 1974 318 4 speed from a 1 ton farm truck. Is this an easy swap or what will need to be changed?
Thanks

hay, paraiedog, hemiabone here, the swap will be easy if you have the right stuff.if you are any where near wasington,i have a 318/4speed in a 70d-200 that would be easer to swap in.i have all the motor mounts and trans mounts.drop me a line if you are interested. :Thumbsup

prairiedog, make sure you unbolt the steel moter mounts from the frame & you'll also need the complete drive shaft to run the 4 spd , trans mount is the same as the 3 spd , also get the radeator(sp)

For 4 speed Sweptlines, you'll be running a 2 piece
drive-line and will need the carrier bearing and its
c-member which attaches to your frame. This drive
line out of the 1 ton truck will probably be of a
different length and the u-joints may very well not
match your yoke on the 8 3/4 rear on your D100. The
ideal way to go is to find a '69-'71 D200 donor truck
with all the goodies you'll need.
