383 Carburetor
383 Carburetor
Have 1969 W 200 manual shift with AFB and 4bbl manifold of the proper blue color. Question: did any of these trucks come with a 4bbl? If so, what is the proper carburetor? Would prefer 2bbl Carter BBD 4422S, if I could find such.

We've had little discussions on the forum about 383 4-bbl trucks and if they are the real thing or not. MY opinion is if you look at the HP rating on your data tag and it says "000 0000", and the engine says "383", you have a 4-bbl engine as stock. I don't have any further info on this, but this is the only instances where I've seen what appears to be a factory 4-bbl install. There are other opinions on this, but to me, this seems to be a logical conclusion, absent a dealer order form from the time to verify.

Assuming that a 4v carb/intake could be order on a truck 383, which I belive it could, it most likey was a Carter AFB 652cfm as that is what was most often on the 383 from the factory on any Mopar, but that is just a guess......(some HP engines were bigger cfms)
