I have the green bearings on my Duster... eliminates the adjuster. I've had'em on there since about '98... no probs, but havent' driven the car extensively. That's about to change, tho, so we'll see... :Thumbsup

I put them on my 8 3/4 axle set

Howdy,

Well I love my Green Bearings. Once I saw I had tapered axles and a 741 case, I got a 489 case with Sure Grip and put it into a scrounged up axle housing from a 70's something. Seeing I was into it that far I took everything apart, blasted backing plates and hi temp POR'd them, then pressed on a set of Greens. Went on easy, will come off easy if need be. Just slid in the axle, bolted er up and away we went. You should polish your bearing journals in the axle tube and put in new seals while you are in there. Be sure to put a SMALL amount of oil on bearing journal before sliding in the bearing. I stil can hardly believe how well it went. If you send me your emai address I will send you a pic or two.

I think I'm going to stay with the stock bearings for now. They seem to be fine. This truck won't be raced maybe some light towing nothing major.

Thanks for the input. If the bearings ever go out I'll probably replace them with the Greens. They seem pretty good.

Thanks again,
Keith

There is nothing wrong with the tappered bearings that came stock on your axles, just make sure that the grease is repacked when ever you do a brake job ( or at least be sure it looks good before putting everything back). Old grease is the main cause for them to fail.
