1971 d500 eng transplant

Post by shboal »

I have purched a 1976 complete 440 and 727 trans pulled from a 1976 motor home. I plan to install it into my 1971 d500 truck. My truck currently has a running slant 6. I am looking for a way to mount the 440 engine to my existing 4 speed or get a 5 speed trans to mount to this beast. I plan on doing some heavy towing. any help wlll be gladly appreciated.

I assume that it has a 318 in it now, if so you will need a hydrualic bellhousing for the big block.

then the truck type water pump, or industrial.
sits higher up than a pickup or car , so that the fan will be in the right area to pull air through the radiator

to add to above
hope you got the flywheel with the engine so it will be ballenced correctly
and your crank will be drilled for the input shaft on the transmission
