Headers on a D-100 318 Poly 1966, X pipes, H pipes ...?
Hello,
I just posted in the general topic about my 1966 D-100 with 318 poly automatic and found that the middle x-member was modified by Dodge to fit the auto transmission. Initially, the question was triggered by a possible clearance problem if I want to intall headers on my truck.
Anybody installed headers on a D-100 318 poly with auto transmission? How does it fit, if it does?
Would I get good results with simply X pipes or H pipes. I already have dual exhaust with Cherry Bombs (not very legal I know but sounds good).

I have the "X" crossover on both my van 79 van with the 360 crate motor and my 68 W200 with 383/727. The 'plumbing' of the pipes on the W200 was pretty creative.
LOTS more power and much quieter.

Hi Cowboy,
Company named TTI Headers and Exhaust System have headers for 318 poly for B and C body cars. Very nice but pricey. Take a look at their site with very nice pictures.

A word of caution.... if "Spitfire" is still listing
headers for Sweptlines.... avoid them. This outfit
took orders & money from some folks and never did
deliver. This was a very hot topic some time ago
over at Norm's site. I don't think that there is
a header for a [manual or automatic] 100/200 series
Poly Sweptline that'll fit without some modification.
If ANYONE knows of a header that does fit properly,
please share your source here and on Norm's site.

I have headers on my 65. I bought a set of block huggers for a 392 hemi and welded up the holes and redrilled new ones. They work fine and sound good.
TTI makes real good headers, but who wants to pay $700?It's wrong to charge that much for headers .
The equal port spacing of the poly is similar to the hemi, some chevy's and some fords. So,find a set you think will fit(shorty's,or truck headers) and do what I did.Or,I can do it for you. Soon I will be selling mine-I am tired of the poly-too small-going with the 440 There's no replacement for displacement 530-263-3698 Shaun

Sounds like a good plan. It even sounds little too simple. How do they clear the transmission x-member (automatic 727) and how low do they drop and how wide from the transmission pan. Any problem there cause the x-member can really get in the way! Did you have to replace the starter with the mini?
From wich company did you get yours and for which frame (do they make those for the sweptline?). Let me know how soon you would sell your and I might be buyer if the price is right. About price, I think you are right about TTI, after shipping and all, little too pricey and I don't see how they would clear the transmission x-member on an auto transmission.
Man, so many questions...
Thanks man. Let's keep in touch on that.
