No clutch??
OK I am almost there for fathers day. only problem is the clutch won't disengage? I have bled the air from the system master and slave cylinders seem to be working. Slave cyl moves about 1 1/2 inches. adjusted the max out of the pedal and slave cyl. The pedal seems to be pushing but doesn't disengage. I started it in gear and kept a foot on the brake to see if it would loosen the plates but it stalled the engine.
I NEED HELP!!!
got the truck all back together for a fathers day show. got glass today and new duel exaust sounds and runs nice but cannot go.
Please advise!! I have saturday to get it figured out Don't know if I must pull the trany to get a look in the bell houseing. all seemed ok when I put it together.
Thanks Matt

Matt,
Have you made any adjustments to the clutch master cylinder rod? You
might throw a few turns on that. Do you have a slave return spring hooked
up? Is the throwout bearing properly engaging the arms on the pressure
plate? Is the throwout bearing fork situated properly behind the bearing?
Is the throwout bearing situated properly rearward of the p-plate arms?

im assuming you have the same 3 arm clutch plate i do, is the throw out bearing on all 3 fingers? when i first put mine in, somehow i was on 2 and behind 1, clutch wouldnt disengage. have some one sit in the truck while you are under it watching the move ment at the throw out bearing, see if it is moving the clutch plate, these hydro clutches can be tricky at first, you may think you got all the slack adjusted out, when you really dont, 1.5 inches at the slave, i really dont think is enough movement, sounds like you still got some air in there. one more thing, if you have the rod from the pedal too tight, then the master is already partially engaged before you made the adjustment at the slave, thus making you loose out on some throw, try loosening it till you can feel slack between the rod and the master, then adjust it where it just touches and has no slack.

On my 65 Hydraulic clutch, i had this happen also, I replcaed the slave and still had to adjust the nut at the slave cylinder. That nut adjustment was my problem, my slave was ok, once I figured out which way the nut need to adjust I was good to go.

My bro came over tonight we pulled the tranny and the p plate the plate was *#%^-eyed for some reason. the plate was flush on one side and only two arms were hitting the through out bearing. we swapped it out for one from the parts shed and put it all back together. whoo it worked. just came back from my first ride. still got some work to tune it up and get all the electrical right. no left turn signal, but in RI here we don't use them. got brake lights working and all looks complete. I AM GOING TO MY FIRST CAR SHOW!!!! will send pics
Thanks guys!

Sounds like you had the same problem Trey had. For the coarse splined
input, there are at least 2 different diameter throwout bearings.... one
that just covers the tips of the pressure plate arms and one that'll
completely cover them [\6 vs. SB V-8 vs BB V-8]. I'll bet the first ride
yesterday was a bit hairy and triumphant at the same time. For your
signals & lights... make sure you're completely grounded and that the
cab, box, etc. are grounded to the frame as well as each other. Have fun
at the show!
