Hydraulic clutch parts replacement

I'm currently in the process of replacing the master and slave cylinders on my 1965 D100. It so far seems pretty straight forward. Are there any pratfalls I should be aware of? For instance, the reproduction service manual I have indicates the clutch pedal spring should be removed.
Is it really necessary to do so?

No it is not necessary to remove the pedal. That just cretes unneeded work. You might have to remove rod to Clutch MC. Thats one pivot bolt

I had a clutch pedal that frequently didn't fully return. When I pulled the pedal, I found that it needed lubrication. While it was out, I put a zerk on it.

The monster over-center spring on the pedal under the dash does NOT have to be removed. The return spring on the slave does.
It is extremely wise to obtain stainless lined replacement cylinders from John Geidl as well as to convert the system to DOT 5 fluid. (unless you like doing this job every few yrs)

And the brakes as well. And it makes an expensive flush with the hassle of disposal.

One more reason for DOT-5.
