Carter BBD - Acc Pump Spring Retainer

Hey all,
Rebuilt the carburetor on the 318 and noticed it was missing the "retainer" or "spring cup" at the top of the accelerator pump spring. The spring still registers in the bore on the underside of the top plate but I'd like to have the retainer.

Seems I cant find this part anywhere. One site lists it but says it is out of stock and theyre unsure of when/if ever they'll have more. Does anyone know where I can find this piece or does someone have a box of carb parts that may have this part in it?

I think these carbs changed slightly over the years. This is in a '69 truck with a '71 318. Basic of basic this carburetor is. If anyone has a lead on this little part, I'd sure appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!

Carter used that part on a lot of their carburetors (as in, I can't think of one I ever worked on that didn't have one like it). I might even have one sitting on the carb on the 318 atop Home'r's Gate (viewtopic.php?p=317306#p317306). I'll go take a look with a screwdriver and caliper.

Talked with Mikes Carb parts. Excellent people but they do not have that part available.

May just bought a carb on ebay for parts and rob that part. Or...may try to 3D print one if the plastic will hold up to fuel.

I looked at the carb on the counterweight 318 on Homer's Gate and remembered that it's a Stromberg, not a Carter. There was no such cap on the accelerator pump spring.

Might be a bit large in diameter. As an alternative, you might find something in a tiny freeze plug that could be made to do the job, jewelers' files being what they are. Have you tried an expedition to the Dorman catalog?
