I have a 1971 D200 Camper Special with a stock 383.
Several months ago, I installed an electrotonic ignition. It significantly improved the starting and running.
Recently my son was driving the truck and it quit running.
After we towed it home, I checked, and it had spark and fuel and it still won't start.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thank you,

Re: Truck won't start
If it is the original engine, they came with a "silent" timing chain, which means the top sprocket has fiber composition teeth. They start getting pretty worn by 80K miles and the chain will jump teeth. As it won't run at all, it would have been quite a bit of a jump. Remove the #1 spark plug, connect a compression gauge, or place your finger over the hole, and begin to bump the starter until you feel compression coming up. Then observe the timing marks and continue to bump the starter until the dampener mark is at TDC. Is the rotor pointing to the #1 terminal of the distributor cap?

Re: Truck won't start
To be replaced with a Cloyes roller chain (or equivalent), and if you're lucky, the chips from the old gear (mine was nylon on aluminum) haven't eaten your babbit bearings.
