Is this a NP445 truck?

I've have two Power Wagons and both have been equipped with NP435s, clearly labeled on the door tag.

I saw this and it shows "Spec" for transmission. It's a 69 W100, and I'm assuming it's a NP445 trans?

What say you experts?

All mine say 445 on the tag, none say SPEC, so I doubt it.

Does the truck have a winch? I've seen 2 other trucks with that SERT number and both had winches. They were both 4 speed trucks, but I don't know which model. One was a 318 and the other was a 383. I'm guessing the number has something to do with a provision for a winch.

Every 445 Ive seen or owned was behind a 383. If the truck is a W, the winch PTO would be on the TC, so nothing would be special about the tranny.
The VIN plate says "TRANS NPG" which might mean New Process Gear. But that pretty much means nothing.

No PTO winch on the front. The truck does have the 383 motor and 3.55 gear.

Just thought it was strange. I thought NP445 was called out just like NP435.

With 3.55 rear and 383 power, the 445 would be an excellent setup! But, you would be using all 4 gears pretty much all the time, so you might get tired of the constant extra shifting. Top end would be great!

My 70 has the 318/NP445/4.10 and has the factory LU 2 winch. No mention of the winch on the data plate. The SERT is for the bucket seats.

My SERT's don't show it either.
NP445D wasn't available in 1969, 1970 was the first year for the NP445D. A745 was the standard (non-optional) transmission for 1969.
The NP435 wide ratio was not a standard option in 1969, only the NP435D Close ratio was a standard option for the W100 & 200.
My best guess is, it was special ordered with the NP435 Wide ratio tranny.

Are you referring to W series only? This chart from old-dodges site is supposedly for 1968 model D series. Shows close & wide ratio 435 offered.

1968 was totally different for options, my post is for 1969 only W100's and W200's.

Would be a great help if you could verify the ratio's in your tranny and if it is a NP435.
I'm always and have been documenting all these unknown or unpublished SERT's for a few years now. Unfortunately there is very little documentation on SERT's, myself and possible only one or two people have some limited documents on SERT's and we're grabbing info here and there as it shows up or is discovered and keeping records of it.
Also, if you don't mind would love to add your Data Plate to our archives for this SERT, would love to get a photo of the whole plate, if you wouldn't mind emailing it me.

John, most SERT's are for Special Ordered Equipment. A winch would have been a standard option for your truck, being it's a W200.
As the bucket seats probably weren't a standard option for the model of your truck, so they had to be special ordered, thus the SERT.

Yes, the seats were an available option on all pick ups for 1970. The sales brochure was worded: "The optional bucket-seated interior, originally created exclusively for the Adventurer pickup, now available in place of any standard interior. Bucket seats are all vinyl with center console".
So I guess if you ordered the seats on anything but an Adventurer, it would be noted on the tag as a SERT number.

As for the NP745 mentioned.... I assume you mean the A745 3spd which was the 3spd "base model"
manual tranny. I believe in 1969-1971 Sweptlines, the A230 3spd with the 23 spline input shaft was
the "base model" manual tranny.

There were NP435s with a 6.68:1 Granny low as well as NP435s with a 4.56:1 low gear.
Have you looked at the data plate on the tranny itself?

So how does a NP445 differ from a close ratio NP435?
This may have been discussed here before, I'm too lazy to dig.

420 = 4 ratios forward, 2 are synchro
435 = 4 ratios forward, 3 are synchro
445 = 4 ratios forward, 4 are synchro (first gear synchro and 4.56 ratio makes it a truly useful 4 speed)
