Big block pan talk

Post by Volksnut »

I'm gathering the goodies to install a 413 big block in my '63. I know you should use a motor home front sump oil pan but read you could use a rear sump truck pan? Would the engine be set back or same placement.

I have a 440 in mine, and it had a standard oil pan, front center, and when I lowered the truck, it hit the axle. I switched to a rear sump, and it hit the tie rod. So just be aware, that if you are moving the height of the truck, that can be an issue, otherwise, it looked to me like any of them would work fine under normal ride height.
