Hit the jackpot today

Post by Volvomechanic »

I lucked up today and found 2 big blocks with 727s still attached. I will be getting them Saturday and will have the block numbers. I have the intake number but can't find anything on them. I can't get the pics small enough to upload

Both ended up being 440's. One is a 75 the other is a 76. Both have 452 heads I was able to get the 75 to rotate. Now I just have to get the truck to the house and get busy building.

This is unreasonably good fortune.

I'll have to look up Mary Esther, Florida on the map so that I can nuke it... :joker

Damn! Looks like you're safe. My nearest friends are in Titusville. :banghead

I work in scrap yards all the time and happened to see two motor holmes. They were going to be crushed Monday so they let me have the engines if I pulled them. It will shock you to see some of the things that come through a scrap yard.

Not any time soon. I once had the occasion to peruse the scrapping of a Navy vessel. Curiously, it was a WWII seaplane tender of which I'd built a model as a small kid, the USS Currituck. The Oakland-Alemda Estuary, CA where I lived had been a naval refitting station during the war. There was a LOT off cool junk to be seen at the various dealers, of which I got to take advantage while restoring old yachts. So yeah, whilst I can envision such as usual... Two 440s in one score? There are not a few around here who'd give a bundle to find one.

Maybe someday I'll forgive you. :Thumbsup
