Jumbo size front yoke...What
On the never ending saga of Big Blue I ran into another problem. When I bought the truck the driveshaft was WAY to short. So I measured it up and had a new one made with Moog 246 joints. Well the front joint is GIANT, it measures in at a hefty 3.730 in width x 2.660 inner snap ring x a 1.125 cup diameter. Did these A745's come with large output shafts? My 904 doesn't even come close.

Okay I did some checking since I'm not a Mopar guru. It appears Mopar had a big and little U- joints. The small is a 246 and the large a 7290. Question now is what did this A745 come out of with such a huge tail shaft as it appears the D100 came with 246 joints...Larger truck maybe?

Generally performance cars got the 7290 joint. Not sure what else. They make conversion joints . The trucks got the bigger 5380 joints.

W series up to 68 came with 3 on the tree as standard equipment. That may explain larger U Joint.
My truck is younger than me.

From what I've seen, one is better off going to a good driveline guy to get better yokes, as bigger doesn't necessarily mean stonger. The ones you have are probably cast. The newer forged Spicer 1410 Series replacement flavor has u-bolts instead of straps and integral cap retainers. Muchly super ear ewe joint.Volksnut wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 5:31 pmOn the never ending saga of Big Blue I ran into another problem. When I bought the truck the driveshaft was WAY to short.
