Automatic transmission
Many time swept owner first time on the board. After owning and parting out a dozen or so, I have yet to see an auto in a w series. Did dodge ever make a power wagon without a clutch pedal?

Welcome to the site.
I've yet to see any W100 or W200 earlier than '69 with an automatic.
The '69-'71 W100/200s came with them.

In 1969 the transfer case was moved towards rear end from transmission making room for an automatic with a short tail shaft and driveshaft to connect to T Case.. I looked at putting an automatic into my 66 W100 many years ago and felt it was gong to be a bit too much work.
My truck is younger than me.

Mine is a late 65 w 200, and I am debating on auto or 4 speed to go behind a 440. I have the auto with park brake from the motor home where the engine came from. I don’t think there is enough room to put that 727 between the engine and transfer.

I'm sure you know that if you are planning to do a 440 / auto as a 4 X 4 you'll be cutting the main crossmember, which with a manual takes up the bulk of the torque from the motor. So without it, you'll be putting a LOT of twist into the frame from the front mounts alone, with less reaction stiffness in the frame and with all that torque going into the t-case. I've seen a 2bbl 383 crunch the mounting isolators on an NP201. Nor is the support for that t-case terribly beefy (the 'bridge' across the top can crack at the apex). So what's your plan to manage all that crank with so little torsional stiffness? Sure hope you plan to strap those front engine mounts. Edit: So I went and did a little sleuthing. Poly-Loc mounts are SPENDY, but they murder a potentially catastrophic problem: https://p-s-t.com/i-23160496-polyloc-motor-mounts.html It would take some fab work to make the car mounts fit though.

if you'd have enough room to stuff it between the 440 and t-case. Does your '65 W200
have its own parking brake on the t-case already?.... Your current bell housing cross
member would have to be removed, leaving the "stubs" for the leaf spring perches
and the holes that are provided to install a spanner to tie the stubs together under
the 727. There's more to do to accomplish the task.... but first things first....

Not that I’m looking to put an auto in my truck more that I’m looking at the options. The bb bell and flyweel aren’t cheap. Thought It may be easier to go auto and sell the 4 speed stuff. And so it turns out, I was wrong. 4 speed is the way to go
