Markings on transmission
While the trans was out thought I would clean and re-seal it up. Can you believe after 50 + years the markings are still on. What is the significants of the 24 on the side of my A745 trans?

That's some amazing paint for the numbers to last that long, especially under the truck.
I don't think they were ever painted... but, I'm not 100% sure on that either.

Re: Markings on transmission
The A745 on my 64 Town Wagon had a similar number. There ias no evidence of it ever being painted.

Ha...aren't those Nascar numbers
Re: Markings on transmission
On car transmissions there is a three digit number that is the last three digits of the assembly part number , I would guess your two digit number means the same.
