OK, first thing you have to ask... did it run OK before? OR is this a new project?

What was the last thing you did? Did you make any changes and then it started to run bad?

Did you; change carb? Tune Up? Fuel pump or fuel line?

Could be any number of things...
Start with EASY things first and don't start just throwing money at it. Look at these:

Fuel Filter
Fuel lines clogged
Fuel pump (make sure it isn't clogged and pumps nicely)
Coil
Condenser
Points

distributor cap
plug wires
worn distributor shaft/bushing - common prob

If you're still using points/condenser..... check to see if your cam block on
the points has worn down and decreased your gap reading. If the individual
who installed the current set of points didn't use a lubricant between the
cam on the distributor shaft and the block on the points.... it might be getting
worn down. This happened to me years ago.
