Anybody know if and where I might find a new flywheel for my 66 D 200 with the 318 poly /NP435? I’m installing a newly rebuilt engine and my machinist told me I would probably be money ahead to replace rather than resurface.
I have searched quite a bit in this forum section but have not found an answer.
TIA
Dan

Is it so toasted that its not readily machinable? New vs surfacing is rarely money ahead unless your machinist is hella expensive.

I haven't heard of any new hydraulic clutch type flywheels.
I would think that if yours isn't in bad shape, you can have it resurfaced
and it'll be fine.

It is heat cracked, but we really don’t know how bad until we try to resurface.

I'm with those above. Machine and don't look back. I stayed with one that looked bad and drove it hard as a daily driver for 10+ years. I don't know maybe yours is truly done.
