1963 D200 Sweptline Build

Post by depharrsr »

After building my 1955 Plymouth Plaza wagon which came with a MOPAR Magnum 360/380 crate motor (vintage mid 90's) with an A500 Tranny, I made an immediate swap for a 5.7 HEMI with an 545RFE tranny. For the next 8 years this Magnum 360/380 has been stored in a corner of my garage. Last year I found a nice 63' D200 Sweptline in a barn and decided that Magnum engine would be a nice fit for that truck. After reading a lot of posts on swept.org, mostly positive about the MOPAR Magnum engine, several users suggested I replace the A500 tranny with the A518/46RH. Eventually my tranny goto guy built me an A518 tranny. Fast forward 6 months, we're in the home stretch on the build and we have a problem, with the flex plate, one of three holes does not line up. Anyone out there had any experience with the MOPAR Magnum 360/380 connected to an A518 Tranny?

Which flexplate do you have? There are basically 2 that came with the 360 magnum, the early one that is non 90 degree for the converter with the converter weighted. The later one has the weight in the flex plate and is a 90 degree pattern for the converter. Is it a lockup trans? The little dot in the flexplate crank bolt circle goes to the circle stamped in the converter.

Nice looking truck. Wish I had that chrome grill and side molding.

Hey Guys, I've been trying to post pictures of my final Truck project for almost a year and can't seem to figure out how to post pictures. I was able to post a couple pictures around the middle of the project build last year, but that's it. I read the BBCode instructions and it made no sense to me. Any assistance anyone can provide in simple English would be much appreciated

Dave, reduce the picture size, then use the attachment link at the bottom of the "compose" window.
