What Transmission
What Transmission
I Just acquired a 1964 dodge sweptline which i believe to be an unregistered CSS model. The engine will not turn and i am trying to remove it from the transmission. I would like to know what transmission came with this truck as it had a push button auto on the dash. I have looked online and cannot determine exactly what it is. The truck has a 318 motor in it. All and any help would be appreciated
Re: What Transmission
Early 727 Torqueflite. If you look underneath, you should see a cable that threads from the front through a hole in the trans (drivers side).

Re: What Transmission
What are the indicators that it is a CSS?
Re: What Transmission
Everything I have read states css has these tags on them and it has 2 faded stripes on the hood and roof. You may know better than I do. Please take a look and let me know what it all means.

Re: What Transmission
Yes on eBay and on Craigslist. You can contact a reputable Chrysler 727 specialist like TSR or Cope Racing and they will talk to you about transmissions all day long. (I bought the Carl Monroe book from TSR when I ordered parts from them. His 727 book covers the history of the Torqueflite and Loadflite.)
Nice score on that truck. Surprising they didn't order the big block while they were checking the heavy duty boxes. But I guess practicality ruled these trucks.

Re: What Transmission
might note; truck used a trans that had the e-brake drum on the tail shaft of trans; unlike the ars with a parking spag
Re: What Transmission
I looked at that truck a couple years back, if you bought out of the high desert in CA. verified it was a CSS.
Re: What Transmission
I looked at that truck when it was still in apple valley,CA I think, and passed on it. Has black int with headrests?. Is a reel CSS.
