Carter BBS - Spring Clip on Pump Plunger

Post by Snowdog »

I'm rebuilding the BBS from my '61, and having a lot of fun doing so. The carb kit came from Rock Auto, and it's been great.

Worried, though, that I'm missing a part. I found reference to putting a spring clip on the pump plunger. Now, to me, it doesn't seem like there's a place one can go, and there was no spring clip when I disassembled it.

Am I missing something?

I would put it back the same way you took it apart.( in reverse of course  :joker ) . Many times those instructions cover a broad range of carbs. :2cents

Thank you kindly. That kit has 3 times the parts I need!

The washer under the piston was missing when I took it apart, so I put one in, but other than that, we're good!

Visiting Texas next week, great to know there's swell folks like yourself there!

By the way, is the 383 in your '68 original?

Thanks for the kind words. Yes the 383 is original in the '68 . (I sold the '68 to a friend a while ago :pale )

I believe the bbs has a similar plunger to the bbd. This is what I had and my kit did not include a replacement clip nor spring.
