Hello all,
I have a cracked exhaust manifold, passenger side. Its 440 doner, bare stamp location but likely 1970's.
I understand that the driver's side will be a center dump type manifold to clear the starter and keep heat away from the solenoid.
Can the passenger side (my issue) use a center dump or is a rear dump needed?
Also I have an electronic choke on the carb if that is relevant to the butterfly valve i keep seeing on existing (ie dorman) rear dump manifolds.
thanks in advance
RW
Also, I'll definitely need a passenger side manifold, type depending on the response to this query.

I cant see why a center dump would not work. Do cars use a center dump because of the shock tower maybe?

Re: 440 exhaust manifold question
Its a 65 d200 Crew Cab, w/440/727 transplant. It was once belonging to Trey Malm about 9 years ago, before i lucked into it.
And it seems like if a center dump works on the drivers side, it should work on the passenger side. I just wanted to make sure i wasn't buying into problems that more meticulous people have already solved.

Re: 440 exhaust manifold question
The 73-78 big block trucks used center dump manifolds on both sides.

Depending on your local resources, it may be cheaper to remove and weld/repair what you have.
