Big Block bell and A833 questions

I have a late 80s truck OD A833 and wondering if It is a good choice behind a stock 440. I know all about the retainer issues...and I have 4 different 8.75 to get the gearing correct.
I'm getting ready to get a 440/727 and possibly a bb bell. This is for my 64 Utiline. The 64 is a /6 with A745 now. I have a few questions to help me decide which direction to go. I haven't decided auto or manual.

Does the hydraulic bell have the slave cylinder on the LH Passenger side?
Will a A833 bolt to a hydraulic bell or do I need a different bell?
Doesn't the early bells have the ear mounts?

Any thoughts or suggestions, please school me about this. Thanks Craig

Are you referring to the hydraulic bellhousings used in through 1968 & earlier trucks? If so, then yes the slave cylinder is on the passenger's side (technically on vehicles this is the right hand side. Left/Right are based upon being seated IN the vehicle looking forward, NOT being in front of the vehicle looking at it.)

The A833 wasn't offered behind the early bellhousings. I suspect it would take some fabrication plus there is the which flywheel to use issue. It may not even be possible.

Yes the early bellhousings have the ear mounts.

A buddy of mine did an A 833 OD conversion into his 360 66 D100 probably 15 years ago. He had to use the later 80's bell housing to make it work. If the 833 OD would have bolted to the stock hydraulic bell housing he would have done it that way. He converted the mechanical clutch Bell housing to hydraulic on drivers side with a home made slave cylinder bracket.
