1970 4 speed tranny colour

Post by fireguyfire »

Cleaned off the inch of oily dirt on my 1970 4 speed manual transmission tonight. The cover is cast aluminum and unpainted, but I was surprised when I cleaned the cast body and found orange paint.
Were these transmissions painted orange at the factory? This d100 has been a farm truck its whole life so I doubt a farmer would pull it out and paint it.
