1964 a745 to 23 spline np435

I'm about to ditch my a745, as the column shift mechanism broke. I believe this truck has the "universal" bellhousing that I'm reading should accept a 435, as well as having extra holes on the engine side for Slant Six or 318. I've got a good deal on a rebuilt 435 lined up but I need to figure out what other parts I need.

The new 435 is 23 spline, and from what I have read I think all the a745 are 10 spline. Can anyone lay out the parts I will need. I think I need a 23 spline clutch, but I have no idea what size or how to check that. Do I need other parts, throw out bearings etc? I know almost nothing about transmissions. I've never even swapped a clutch.

I'm guessing I'll need my intermediate driveshaft adjusted as well. I've got a divorced np201 with what feels like a 16 spline shaft between the two. It's cold outside though so I may have mis-counted them laying in the snow.

Any help is greatly appreciated. This truck is my daily driver, so having it down for something silly like a broken shifter is killing me.

68 & earlier NP435's had 10 spline inputs. The 23 spline you have is 69-later. I think there may be a difference in input shaft length.

Well, powerwagon54 called and got me set straight. Saved me the cost of a 23 spline transmission and shipping. I think I will likely be ordering a correct 10 spline unit from him shortly.
