I can get a 1978 motorhome 440 with short tail 727.
Is that the same transmission used in a 1970 W200?

Possibly. Tape measure is your friend. But does it have the parking drum on the rear. If it does, Then no.
My truck is younger than me.

Re: big block 727 short tail
Only if the 1970 W200 had a 383. If the motor home transmission has a fixed yoke then it likely is the same or very close.slz wrote:I can get a 1978 motorhome 440 with short tail 727.

A 78 440 may have a cast crank & the torque convertor will be balanced accordingly.

Re: big block 727 short tail
I have a spare big block 727 from a 76 motor home with the fixed yoke and the tail shaft housing measures 12". The fixed yoke tail housing with my 70 4x4 with divorced transfer case measures 8". You can still use the motor home transmission, but you'll have to get the shorter tail housing "assembly" (shaft, case, bearings and seal etc.). I converted my 2 wheel drive 727 long tail shaft assembly with no problems.slz wrote:I can get a 1978 motorhome 440 with short tail 727.
