On Thanksgiving morning I acquired a 273 out of a 1967 Dodge Dart for $400. The engine only has 36,000 miles. My question is do I have to change the oil pan to fit in my 1963 D200?

You should be OK, being a D200. Just watch the clearance to the axle. What engine are you replacing? Is the 273 a 2 barrel or the 4 barrel ? It's a great little motor for a Dart....not much power in a D200. I just finished building one that was a 2 barrel 30K mile from a 1965 dart. added a 4 barrel and Isky cam. :Thumbsup Looking for a place to stuff it.

Note: if you can find a LA small block front sump pan and pick-up...a little extra insurance. :Thumbsup

I'm replacing a 225 slant 6. The 273 was a 2 barrel but it now has a Edelbrock "STREETMASTER" aluminum 4 barrel intake from the early 1980's. What size cam did you put in yours?

It will not have hardened valve seats to be compatible with unleaded gas. Do the valve job now, or do it in the near future.

I used the Isky E4 # 390144 fairly mild but gives the little motor some extra pep. You can use your /6 motor mounts but you will need to source some truck small block motor brackets. Terry is right about the valve seats....I had them changed when I rebuilt the motor. Do you have solid or hydro. lifters. I know they changed from solid but don't recall which year. The e4 cam works with both. :Thumbsup

Note: just checked hrdro. lifters started in '68.

Do the small block motor brackets have to be from a Sweptline? Can they be from a 1972 or newer pick-up?

I see you asked that question on another thread. Do you have some 72 and newer mounts. Are you pretty handy with a welder etc. If you have mounts maybe try a engine mockup and let us know if its possible to use them. :thinking :thinking :thinking :thinking :thinking

I don't have any engine brackets at all right now. I'm just trying to figure out what kind of truck I need to scavenge some from before I start looking.
