I guy offed me a rebuilt 67 poly from a D100. I don't know the cubic inch. Has a 4 bbl and a few other performance parts. Is there a bell housing that will work with my A883-OD or will it work with a 1970 A904? Just wondering if it is worth the swap from the slant6 or wait on my future plan. I've been thinking about a 360 magnum or 440. What do ya think? Craig

A poly from a 67 D100 would be 318, known as an A318..... It would share bellhousing with the later LA318/360 engines.

4 barrel intakes on Poly motors weren't that common.

It has a aftermarket cam, headers and 4bbl intake. I don't know much about this type of engine. It looks cool but, I'm thinking not much performance.

Can you find out what exactly was done to the motor? The 318 poly is a great motor and all the power you need IMO. If you need more info about the poly ,
the contact for the GURU of the poly Gary Pavlovich. He will be happy to assist you.He has been building poly's for 30+ years ( great guy) :Thumbsup

If your D100 [pre-'69?] has a hydraulic clutch manual tranny in it, you can use
the bell housing. You'd need a hydraulic clutch A/LA 318 flywheel and the correct
A/LA 318 three bolt starter.

I like the A318 Poly engine. I have 2bbl versions in my '61 [soon to be] W200, '65 W200
and '68 D100 Sweptlines. Great engines if you ask me. :Thumbsup

I have a 64 /6 with A745 now. I have a 1985 /6 883-OD transmission. Are you saying I can use the A745 or buy a 318 bell for the 883?

Score! :Thumbsup That's an awesome old-school motor.

The 440 just gives you some bragging rights, better torque and worse fuel mileage. To me, the 318 Poly is the better deal if it is ready to go.

If you were using the A745, you could keep the same bell housing for the A318.
As for the 883, I don't know if it would bolt up to the bell you currently have?
Also, if the input shaft on the 883 is 23 spline, that probably won't work with
the hydraulic clutch system. You could still use the A745 with the A318 or
maybe look for a 10 spline NP435D3 4spd top loader that has the 4.56 first gear. :thinking

polys have the best performance. all power right now. tow like a big block. cylinder walls are so thick they can be bored .120 over!
