Post by Thomasmg »

My car does not have the brass identifying plate. I only know the above subject description. I am having trouble locating a rebuild kit. I also need the small screwed on clip that hold the manual chock able to the acr body. I dropped it in a pile of leaves and for the life of me can not find it !! Please assist

Get a strong magnet and go thru the leaves again. (harbor freight has them) Finding a replacement clip will likely be difficult. Why did u write "car" if u are working on a truck?

OK...I have a truck and I did abbreviate carburetor much too short. Anyway.....
I need a rebuild kit. I can attach a pic of the carb and the two gaskets that would help identify my one barrel ( on a slant 6 225) that aches to be started again. Not sure if pics are attachable on this site. Advise at your earliest...please

Oddly something I've done in the past that worked for me was to loosen all of the screws, saturate the carburetor in WD40 and allow it to soak. You can purchase gallon containers and just submerge the carburetor. This has allowed me to disassemble the carburetors without damaging any of the gaskets which makes identifying kits by parts and gaskets much easier and also allows you to reuse some gaskets as necessary. It also doesn't hurt to tap (firm but not enough to separate pieces) the housing with a screwdriver handle at each gasket/ body intersection.
