Radiator hoses 383

Post by Tony292 »

Anyone know who sells upper and lower radiator hoses for a big block sweptline? I'm getting ready to swap in a 440 and mine are shot.

Tried that when I bought the truck 2 years ago and had to replace the radiator. Two parts stores didn't carry them. That's why I asked here on this forum.

Just bought both this morning at Oreillys. 70 with 383, Gates 20609 and 20875, Are you sure you have the correct radiator?

Positive on the radiator. Haven't tried oreillys yet. I'll give that a shot. The problems I was having with other parts stores was they didn't even have anything listed.

Do the old "shot" hoses have a part number?

Not that I can read, the top was some kind of unscersal flex hose with the sprIng inside of it and the bottom was ancient and swollen and totally crusty with grease oil and dirt. It looked like it was about to explode it was so swollen. The two parts stores that I went to brought out several hoses to attempt to match but none were even close.

This will probably have to wait for a mont as I'm gong in the hospital on Monday for psychiatric reasons. Having ECT done. I hope I can remember my own name after this.

Are you asking for hoses for a 440? and not a 383?, I'm not sure these trucks ever came with a 440 originally.

Like others have said, hoses for a 383 should be readily available.

I came across a 70 w200 a couple years back when I first wanted to get into one of these and the data plate said 440. It was a special order thing I think.
