Mounts and brackets are available from several aftermarket vendors.

I just finished my /6 to 440 swap this summer. I used 1976 or 77 big block truck motor mounts from a truck in the junk yard. I kept the slant six rubber isolaters and they bolted up to the mounts. I also took all the brackets for the alternator and power steering and trans throttle pressure. I got an oil pan from an old class A motorhome, it is a front sump. The wiring is very similar in length and placement so no modifications were necessary. I used the slant throttle cable but it is long and now makes a loop.(maybe not ideal but seems to work fine). I swapped from a np435 manual to a 727 and the trans mount was the same in my 1970 swepty. Earlier models may have a different crossmember setup from what I've read. I sent a car driveshaft out to be shortened and eliminated having to use the slip joint in the drive shaft setup. I ended up buying stainless steal shorty block hugger headers off from ebay and they work well. Later 440 blocks have a boss on the left side you need to cut off for these to fit. I used a van radiator because I had one and I ran out of money. The radiator required some cutting and fab work to mount it. Mounts are available from 440 source and some others, I used junkyard parts and I think and old motorhome would be easy to find, good luck!

Hola Holts Summit

Along with what Joe has said, add the following:

A set of OEM Center Dumping Exhaust Manifolds from any Car Division from 1959 to 1966 with a 361-383-413 or 440 will
bolt to a Big Block --- and will clear --- with out a hammer or torch. This is what was done for all Factory C.S.S./ H.H.P. Dodge
Trucks.

http://www.cssregistry.com/css/whatis.html

If you have not purchased the 440 yet ---- look for a 1972-1978 400 or 1962-1971 383 instead. They appear the same as a 413-426 Wedge
or 440 and as a total usage package they offer a better Bang-For-The-Buck. Your "bragging right's" will be aimed more at Performance Facts
vs cubes.

If it were me, I'd just keep the 440 until I had the opportunity to assess its
overall condition.

i also used a transmission crossover out of a mid 70's truck so all headers will work plus you can still find transmission mounts at the parts store real nice

I just purchased a 66 d100. It's been sitting since 1998 in az. It has a locked up slant 6. I have a 1970 chrysler new yorker with 440 and auto. Will the engine mounts work for this swap? Many Thanks for any info!

The Chrysler mount brackets will not work. You need the Sweptline
big block mount brackets. You can buy the rubber insulators at your
local auto parts store.

You'll need a tail shaft cross member, ideally from a '61-'68 D100/D200
donor. If your '66 had an automatic in it.... you're all set. If not, you'll have
to remove the bell housing cross member [leave the stubs, as they're
integral to the leaf spring perches] and get a spanner bracket to tie
the remaining stubs together.

Great info, thank you. Maybe you could put me in the right direction for cab mount brackets. The front ones are rusted up bad. Thanks!

Nice thread and 'food for thought' indeed.

What motor and what trans for my 64 D200???
Straight six and NP435.
Poly318ci and NP435.
383ci BB and NP435.
413ci BB and NP435.
426ci(bored 413) and NP435.
440ci BB and NP435.

All or one of the above with long-tailed auto box?
Not sure I can bring myself to cut-out the crossmember and fit a shifter.

Decisions, decisions lol...

Do you have the big block flywheel, bell housing and starter
for a hydraulic clutch set up? :Thumbsup :thinking

Hi John,

Many thanx for your reply.

My 64 D200 has a six cylinder at the moment, but did have a 318 Poly.
I believe the bellhousing is dual purpose for the six and and 318???

But I have seen, not one, BUT TWO Big-block pre 68 bells for sale lol...
Although I have just rebuilt a 64 poly (from a Poly friend in the UK) I would like to go B/B.
Had some Barracuda's with the 318 LA but prefer a 383 or even a 440.

Spoilt for choice now... :thinking :thinking :thinking
