i have a snap on double gauge. it has the inlet gauge so i can monitor how much air i put in and then the second gauge will read pressure drop.

OK sounds like you used the correct tools. I looked up a few threads on oil blowing out the dipstick and all I find is blow by but that doesn't seem like your issue if there is no leak down.

The only thing I can chalk it up to is not having a pcv valve. I have two oil breather caps but who knows. :thinking

If you have both breathers teeing into the vacuum port of the carb, you need an air inlet somewhere (PVC) to draw the vapors though the block. Only run vacuum to one breather and leave the other breather unhooked so engine vapors can flow into the engine. The arrows on the diagram represent the flow of vapors though an engine. White smoke shows a leak of antifreeze into a cylinder (head gasket, cracked or warped head), what did the plugs look like when you pulled them? Do a strait compression test the way "kurt" suggested as the 170 in/mg is high. Did you seal the 4 engine corners exhaust manifold studs (or bolts) as they run into the water jacket on 318s and 340s, think 360s are the same and could be leaking into the exhaust manifold. Last, but not least, get a Factory Service Manual.

My plum were all clean and uniformed. No discoloration. Just looks like a clean normal use plug. Ill hook one up to my air cleaner and the other to the back of the carb. See what that does. Ive got a factory manual, for both 66 and for the 77 that my motor is out of.

alright guys, i got it all figured out. i ran new hose, longer this time from my pcv valve to the back of the carb. then, used a cleaned oil breather cap and ran new longer hose to the air cleaner. free of any kinks, extreme bends ect.. fired her and hauled off down the freeway and i had no oil spray or anything inside the engine bay. clean as a whistle. no more shooting in the dark :Thumbsup thanks for all the input, i timed my engine and adjusted it accordingly and the slight white smoke is now gone. and i get roughly 14 miles per gallon  not the greatest but hey it will do.

Neither my 2004 Astro nor my wife's 2010 Grand Caravan get better than 14mpg in town.

My only guess as to why it does as good as it does is because it weighs so little without the bed on it and having a transmission that forces me to accelerate slowly. Also a two barrel carb helps.

I Never would have thought just the pcv would cause that. Older cars like my 62 falcon just had a breather hose exiting under the car.

I had 1966 belvedere with a poly 727 and 273s that got 21mpg all day long.

Actually I have no idea. This pic is from a 1968 service manual it says 6 pints. I googled dana 70 and the newer ones take 7 pints.

I am right there with you, there were better people that could have been put into office. They would have helped bring the economy back and would actually have a foreign policy. Whatever happened to "we will not negotiate with terrorists" ???????????? I am red, white and blue died true in the wool, come from a military family some might call me a radical extremist. I prefer flat plain and simple, I am american.

My guess is that bottom ring, the compression ring is bad. Try a leakdown test and see if you air out the breather.
