my 360.
Swell. Took my truck to a local (well kind of) 'old-school' repair shop.
Was worried about driving it too much with my untuned Quadrajet and thought I'd have them
check it out. Turns out there was a massive vacuum leak under the manifold, bad gasket.
Upon removal, they said the ports don't/didn't match the manifold (at all). They've ordered an aftermarket
gasket vs. the factory one to try and get it to match/seal.
So, if they can't get this to go correctly & I end up needing a new carb/manifold to properly work on my 360,
what should I buy.? I will be towing an enclosed 20 foot trailer & hopefully someday my 5th wheel toy hauler
(but that's waaaaaay down the road for now) so I'm thinking a performance intake/carb.....
Hit me.!
Cheers,
Cris

You buy your intake used or new?

Re: So my edelbrock manifold doesn't 'line up' with the port
If you know what you are doing or trust someone, you can machine or "grind" the intake/heads to port correctly. As far as cost goes, you might spend the same amount on porting as you would a new intake......unless you do it yourself then all you need is time, patience, and good tools
Re: So my edelbrock manifold doesn't 'line up' with the port
Update.....:
Went & saw the truck this morning on my way in to work.
It's the intake gasket that's not matching, mopar gasket
against an aftermarket intake so I'm told they don't seal
as well against the port size of the aftermarket manifold,
couple thin areas.....
New gasket set coming in via elves/fairies freight. Hope to drive it out of there tonight.\
So I won't be needing 'new bits'. To answer the posts above, the manifold came on the truck
& to fchicken, yeah I've matched ports on 4-bangers but that was in my driveway/living room area
(in the pre leather couch days!). Made my headspin looking at manifolds-carbs & yeah heads too last nite.
Damn there's a lot of stuff out there.!
Cheers,
Cris
