where can i get transmission mounts?
Re: where can i get transmission mounts?
I've taken some "heat" over my opinion on high prices but I will give it again. Prices for parts are directly proportionate to our need and availability. Someday I may have to retire my '67 but as long as I can get parts (at any price) it stays roadworthy (safe to operate).

It's Capitalism, my friends. The American Way. Personally, when I find somebody producing something I need that I can't make myself, I don't question the price when there is only one source.john wrote:I've taken some "heat" over my opinion on high prices but I will give it again. I'm gonna try these. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Square-Pa ... tabcontent
It's worth a shot, since the originals are junk and nos seems made of unobtanium.

Have you determined whether the bolt holescptn60 wrote:I'm gonna try these. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Square-Pa ... tabcontent

will line up with those on the c-member?

Re: where can i get transmission mounts?
Not yet, John. Waiting for them to arrive and also for the ice to melt enough around the truck so I can take it to work and get it on a rack. May have to redrill the holes in the cross member, but if thats what it takes; so be it. I was able to buy new front engine insulators, that took a lot of vibration out. Seemed to aggravate the engine/transmission angle though.

I'd also be very interested in seeing if those mounts work. I just removed the slant from my 1965 Crew Cab and BOTH of the insulators went to hell on me....

Re: where can i get transmission mounts?
Hey y'all, I may have something that replaces the "L" shaped bell housing mounts. O'Reilly Auto Parts ordered me a couple Anchor motor mounts P/N 2240 that look like they can be used. Hell, at $7 per I'll take the chance, modify as needed, and hope for the best. I'll send pix of the derned things when I put my hands on 'em tomorrow.

Re: where can i get transmission mounts?
I have been following this thread as I need these mounts too. Any updates as to if someone found workable replacements? I had something I was going to try too. :)

Re: where can i get transmission mounts?
Has anyone had any luck with finding/making/adapting other mounts to the early-mid 60's truck's bellhousing? Trans mounts, bellhousing insulators or whatever you want to call them? :) I desperately need something there. lol

Re: where can i get transmission mounts?
Marc, wayneswirld2 used Anchor P/N 2240 ($7 from Amazon) in his build thread (last photo in this post)
Re: where can i get transmission mounts?
Hope this helps..........
Using that part number at Amazon, this is what i got back. Only two left at the moment.

Looking at his picture on the build thread this looks to be the one he is using.

Re: where can i get transmission mounts?
Huh, the text here and the image annotation in Wayne's build thread says 2240. However, the additional scallops (as best I can make them out in the photo) make it look more like the 2270 you found. Though, in looking at the two in the Amazon photos, the offset of the bellhousing bolt relative to the center line of the two crossmember mount holes for the 2240 looks more like the original insulator than the 2270.
Both are amazon prime eligible (i.e. free two day shipping)

Re: where can i get transmission mounts?
Woah, sorry if my tone came off as snooty. Not my intention at all.
Re: where can i get transmission mounts?
No problem, me too, i Interpreted it wrong i'm sure.Dood wrote:Woah, sorry if my tone came off as snooty. Not my intention at all.
Does appear that we have a solution for these with some minor mods maybe.
Re: where can i get transmission mounts?
So which one was used? Was it the 2240 or the 2270? If they will both will work, will I still have to drill a new mounting hole?
Oh how exciting!! ;)

Re: where can i get transmission mounts?
I think patience will be our best bet here and let's wait for Wayne to reply with his experience.
In particular, I want to know how much if any modification was required and if the bellhousing + block install was made to be a shoe-horn or a real nice fit with these bad boys in place. The true test will be how it all holds up and if there is much vibration in the housing, I suppose as measured by feel, back at the shifter, i.e. are they too stiff or not stiff enough. I looked at the applications for those mounts and they were used as primary motor mounts for some pretty big Ford V8s. Interestingly, there are symmetric left and right versions (add 1 to the P/N) which might be worth investigating.
Finally, these don't have the L that wraps around the crossmember as the OE and Imperial Services copies do. The original engineers put it there for some (presumably good) reason.

Re: where can i get transmission mounts?
I'm going to guess that L section on the original was to keep them from twisting around? Maybe?Dood wrote: Finally, these don't have the L that wraps around the crossmember as the OE and Imperial Services copies do. The original engineers put it there for some (presumably good) reason.
